The short version
- We use Google Analytics to see how people use the site. It sets cookies.
- If you email us, we have your email address and whatever you wrote.
- There are no accounts, newsletters, sign-up forms or payments on this site.
- We don’t run advertising pixels on this site, and we don’t sell your personal information.
1. What we collect
Analytics. The site loads Google Tag Manager, which runs Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology to record things like the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that sent you here, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (worked out from your IP address). We use it in aggregate. We don’t try to identify individual visitors.
Hosting logs. The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel’s servers log basic request data, such as IP address, browser, the page requested and the time, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Email and phone. You can reach us at hello@donutanalytics.com or (407) 394-9720. If you write or call, we receive your name and contact details as your email or phone shows them, plus anything you choose to tell us.
Client dashboards. Some clients have password-protected reports on this site. Signing in to one sets a single cookie that keeps you signed in to that report for 30 days. It’s only set if you sign in, and it isn’t used for tracking.
What we don’t collect. There are no user accounts, newsletters, mailing lists, sign-up forms or payments on this site. We don’t ask for sensitive information, and we don’t buy data about visitors.
2. How we use it
We use analytics to see which pages are useful and to fix what isn’t. We use your email to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to do the work. We use hosting logs to keep the site running and secure. We don’t use any of it to target you with ads.
3. Who else sees it
Service providers. Google (Analytics and Tag Manager), Vercel (hosting) and our email provider handle this data on our behalf. Google processes analytics data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
If the business changes hands. If Donut Analytics is merged or sold, this information may go with it, and this policy would still apply to it.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Cookies and your choices
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics (names starting with _ga), plus the client dashboard sign-in cookie described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
5. How long we keep it
Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, then deleted automatically. Emails are kept as long as we need them to work with you and for normal business records. Vercel keeps its logs for a limited time under its own policies.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws like the GDPR in Europe or California’s privacy law give you rights over your personal information: to see what we have, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. To ask, email hello@donutanalytics.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the site for analytics and hosting logs, and on your request when we reply to an email. Our service providers are in the United States, so your information may be processed there.
7. Children
This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
8. Other sites
The site links to others, such as LinkedIn and jelly.marketing. They have their own privacy policies, and this one doesn’t cover them.
9. Changes
If what the site collects changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
